The Tourism and Hospitality Group
The Tourism and Hospitality Group brings together a wide range of individuals, accommodation and attraction providers and local authorities involved in the promotion of Henley-on-Thames as a highly attractive tourist destination.
It works with regional and national bodies such as Tourism South East and VisitBritain and provides a local point of focus for the co-ordination of town tourist initiatives. For example, it is working to ensure Henley is in a strong position to benefit from the 2012 Olympic and Para Olympic events, especially in terms of the town’s competitive rowing heritage.
Co-ordination with the Henley Visitor Information Centre and support and input to South Oxfordshire District Council’s tourism website are essential parts of the group’s work.
The Tourism and Hospitality Group also assesses the visual impact the town has on visitors. An example of this is its work with Oxfordshire County Council on the selection and clarity of road signs, especially with regard to tourist attractions.
