You know it is important to have a connection between your business and your customers. Potential clients and customers will use social media to learn more about your brand. Social media is used to:
- Increase traffic to your website
- Build your company brand, credibility and identity
- Allow customer feedback
- Provides faster interaction with your customers
- And of course, ultimately to increase sales
Choose the best platforms. Think about who your target audience is – families, young adults, men, women, affluence, older, individuals or businesses? Where they live and what their lifestyles are will give you the clues you need as to the social networks they are likely to be using. Now you can build your social media presence on these platforms allowing you to create a dialogue with your customers. Remember that audiences change and you cannot always predict reactions.
Consider what it is you are promoting. Know your own brand and identity before you do anything. Understand your own voice so it is clearly presented in whatever social media you use. Now make sure that you are using the right social media, to compliment you/your business/your products.
Have a social media strategy. You need to think about how to translate interest in your product/business into sales and the development of your business. Lots of social media activity must reap tangible benefits for your company.
Post regularly, this doesn’t have to be daily but ensure you keep up your presence with regularly posts. It also depends on what you are using – for Twitter more regular posts are essential once or twice a day, Facebook less so perhaps once a day for example. The important thing is to ensure you connect regularly.
Be consistent in how you use Social Media so that what you say on Twitter, matches that on Facebook and your blog.
Don’t be boring! Whatever you post, on whatever social media you use, make it interesting, informative, relevant and most importantly tell your readers something they may find useful. Above all ensure it is original!
Engage with your readers. If you post something, you need to make sure that you are available to those who respond to your posting, so that you can interact with them. Remember that this is about engaging with your audience and building relationships so that they remember you and your business.
